Crisis Behavior Support for Families in Houston

A specialized, time-limited service designed for individuals displaying behavioral crises that may result in injury to themselves or others, hospitalizations, 911 calls, or the inability to participate in any activity outside of the household.

At Unique Behavior Supports & Services, CBS focuses on antecedent strategies, prevention, and de-escalation delivered in home settings in Harris County. The goal is to provide real-time ABA- aligned behavior support for families and caregivers, including behavior strategies, environmental modifications, and guidance in identifying and responding to early warning signs.

CBS suppors individuals with autism — including those with profound autism — during times of high need. These supports provide the necessary tools to families in managing high stress behavioral situations effectively and with compassion. My services are private-pay only, ensuring families in Houston, Bellaire, West U, Tanglewood, Memorial, Galleria, and River Oaks can access care without delays or insurance restrictions.

When behaviors become too unsafe to manage or de-escalate within the home, our team will collaborate with families to connect them to additional crisis resources and specialized supports available in their local area.

FAQs

Here are some common questions about our Intensive Crisis Behavior Support from UBSS

  • Yes — Crisis services are offered only in the home or natural environment. It’s essential to address behaviors where they actually occur to ensure the most meaningful and lasting change. I provide in-home crisis ABA therapy in River Oaks, Tanglewood, Bellaire, Memorial, Houston Heights, Galleria, Downtown, and West U.

  • Services may be available for individuals exhibiting aggressive or self-injurious behaviors, depending on the intensity and level of risk identified during the consultation and assessment process. Intervention is offered only when it can be delivered safely and effectively within the home or natural environment. With specialized training in crisis de-escalation and safety-focused strategies, I carefully evaluate each case to determine the most appropriate and responsible course of action.

  • Yes. I provide specialized behavior support for individuals with high-support needs. I have extensive experience working with individuals who use limited or no vocal communication, require support with daily living skills, and benefit from highly individualized care. Our goal is to create a space where everyone is seen, supported, and included — especially those who are often overlooked or excluded from traditional services.

  • Before services begin, there is a phone consultation, followed by either direct observation or thorough video review, and the creation of a safety plan.

Because I don’t accept insurance, the process is often more efficient and flexible—without the delays that can come with approval or reimbursement requirements. That said, start times are based on the unique context of each case, so while services don’t always begin immediately, the approach is tailored and responsive.
